Bringing it all together

I inherited this sewing machine cabinet from my granny back when I was a little girl. It was a strange shade of olive green and had an antiquing wash put over it. I lived with it that way from about 5th grade until I was a freshman in high school. Looking back now the color was really pretty, but at the time I was wanting whites and lightness. I must also disclose that this was 1994 and crackle paint was all the rage. I decided to do my first furniture makeover. I stripped off all that old thick olive green paint and glaze and sprayed it with gold spray paint. Then I used a flat white crackle paint all over. It was cute and it has been that way until now. Crackle paint and gold weren't really the direction I wanted to go in my master bedroom which is cream, gray, and a robins egg color. So it was once again time to paint it. This is what I have ended up with in my space and I couldn't be more thrilled!

This is a frame that has been about 4 different colors and used for different purposes in my home for a couple of years now. I think it just may have found it's permanent home this time!

I just love the detail on this frame, I think it is so pretty!

I kept the original hardware on the cabinet. Some things are just too lovely to replace, and I ADORE the detail...

Some pearls spilling out of a Lennox bowl given to me by my husbands grandmother make this sentimental from all sides. That just makes me smile.

As well as an old watch that belonged to my granny and a matchbook from a store where she shopped for my grandaddy.

I adore books and these are extra special because they were my fathers. I took them out of his bookcase a few years ago and he was kind enough to go ahead and let me have them.

Shakespeare and Sherlock Holmes were the absolute perfect addition to this setting. I love that they were well used. I love the detail on the books and the texture they have. These are just a few of my favorite things that I've brought into our master. They have such value for me and I take a trip down memory lane whenever I look at the newly painted cabinet and all the things I love that remind me of all the people I love even more. It makes me realize that I am finally bringing it all together, and that is EXACTLY what I wanted.
